Roblox has hundreds of millions of accounts, and the short, clean usernames went years ago. A new account usually needs a name built from two or three parts, or a spelling that no one has tried yet. Here is how to build one that is available and worth keeping.
Know the platform rules first
- Usernames run 3 to 20 characters.
- Letters, numbers, and underscores only. No spaces, no special characters.
- Display names are separate: they can be almost anything, but usernames stay unique.
- Changing a username costs 1,000 Robux, so pick carefully the first time.
Style 1: two-word combos
Pair an adjective with a noun for a name that usually survives: PixelRaven, FrostByte, NeonOwl, QuietMeteor. Swap the order and try variations when the first pick is taken.
Style 2: numbers with meaning
Underscores and numbers are allowed, so an unavailable name often opens up with a small change: ShadowWolf_7 instead of ShadowWolf. Pick a number you will remember, like a jersey number or a year, not a random string.
Style 3: aesthetic and one-word
One-word names are the hardest to get. Misspelled variants of real words (Vexx, Kryzz, Nyxx) read cool and are far easier to claim than dictionary words.
